Meet Floki!
3.5 years old 50 lbs Neutered Male
Handsome, intelligent, and born to move, Floki is a true herding dog at heart. At 3 years old, this gorgeous 50-pound guy is looking for a home that understands his personality and can give him the active, structured life where he'll thrive.
Floki is being surrendered because he and the other male dog in his current home are no longer getting along. While Floki can be friendly around other dogs, we believe he'll be happiest and most successful as the only dog in his forever home, where he won't have to compete for space, food, or attention.
He's a higher-energy guy who would love an active family and a large, securely fenced yard where he can run, play, and put those herding-dog instincts to good use. Mental exercise will be just as important for Floki as physical activity. He's a smart boy who will benefit from continued training, enrichment, and having something to keep that busy brain engaged.
About Floki:
3.5 years old and 50 pounds
Neutered, up to date on vaccines & heartworm negative
House trained & crate trained
Friendly and affectionate with his people
Higher energy with strong herding instincts
Best as the only dog in the home
Older, considerate children only
Needs a chicken-free diet
Can be cautious with new people, especially men
Fearful of loud noises
Has some food/resource guarding
Floki isn't necessarily the guy who falls in love with every stranger in the first 30 seconds. He likes a little time to observe new people and decide they're safe, particularly with unfamiliar men. Give him that time and respect his space, and you'll get to see the friendly, loving dog underneath.
Because Floki can guard his food, he'll need a family willing to manage mealtimes appropriately and continue working with him using positive, consistent training. A home with older, dog-savvy children who can understand and respect his boundaries will be the best fit.
Floki doesn't need a perfect family. He needs the right family: active, patient, consistent, and willing to understand what makes him tick.
Give this smart, handsome guy room to run, a job for his brain, predictable routines, and people he can trust, and Floki has everything he needs to become an incredibly loyal companion.
He's ready for a fresh start and a home where he can finally be the one and only four-legged king of his castle.
