DESCRIPTION

Meet Sammi

Sammi is an Australian Shepherd puppy, born around the middle of April and currently weighing about 15 pounds. He has somehow reached the age where every day brings another inch of legs, another ounce of confidence, and absolutely no reduction in his belief that cuddling is a productive use of everyone's time.

He is ridiculously sweet. The sort of puppy who seems genuinely pleased to discover you're in the same room. He loves to play, loves to snuggle, loves to be loved, and approaches all three with equal enthusiasm. If affection were an Olympic event, Sammi would already be on the podium wondering whether everyone else got enough snacks.

He's charming in that effortless way that can't really be manufactured. One minute he's happily entertaining himself with a toy, the next he's curled against you as though the two of you had plans all along. It's a remarkably effective strategy.

Sammi is also a bright little guy. He's doing wonderfully with puppy pads and making excellent progress with his potty training. You can almost watch him connecting the dots, quietly filing away each new lesson for future reference. It's very Australian Shepherd of him.

And then there's the face.

Honestly, it feels a little unfair. He's strikingly handsome in the sort of way that causes complete strangers to abandon whatever they were talking about just to say, "Look at him." It's less of a compliment than an involuntary reflex.

He's playful without being wild, cuddly without being clingy, and carries himself with the kind of good-natured optimism that makes a house feel lighter simply because he's in it.

Sammi won't be little forever.

But he's exactly the sort of dog you'll wish you'd known his whole life.
