Meet Benji!

This adorable 3-year-old Maltese weighs just 15 pounds, but his heart is absolutely overflowing with love. Originally from a breeder, Benji is now searching for the forever family he has always deserved.

If you're looking for a little shadow to follow you around the house, Benji is your guy! He absolutely adores being held, snuggled, and staying close to his favorite person. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or working from home, Benji will happily be right by your side. He needs a moment or two to relax around new humans, but he settles in quickly.

Benji has a sweet, playful personality with a bit of puppy charm still shining through. He enjoys toys and is learning just how much fun playtime can be. He knows his name, comes when called, will sit for you, and walks nicely on a leash. Benji enjoys the company of other dogs.

He's crate trained and settles down quickly after a brief protest. Benji is not yet house trained, but he's comfortable wearing a belly band while he continues to learn. With patience, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement, he'll continue making great progress.

Benji is neutered, and is ready to begin his next chapter with a family who will shower him with the love and security he's been waiting for. If you're looking for a loyal little cuddle buddy who will happily spend his days by your side, Benji just might be your perfect match.

All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.

***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures.
