Meet Bert - The Shaggy Little Snugglebug with the Big Brown Eyes
Bert has discovered a pretty effective strategy for getting what he wants.
Big brown eyes. Shaggy fur. Then come the snuggles.
He's a happy, energetic puppy who loves people, other dogs, toys, adventures, and affection. Bert is confident and curious, but he's also a serious cuddler who will happily settle in close when playtime is over.
His foster says those big brown eyes combined with his wonderful snuggles are almost guaranteed to put you in a better mood.
We suspect Bert knows exactly what he's doing.
Bert Loves:
-Playing with other dogs
-Car rides
-Tug toys
-Sniffing and exploring
-Playing with toys
-Chewing on bones
-Cuddling
-Napping
-Treat puzzles and enrichment
-Watching TV with his people
-Being carried
-Zoomies
-Getting attention
-Meeting new friends
Bert's Favorite Thing:
Being close to his people.
Bert is an affectionate, people-oriented puppy who isn't stingy with his kisses.
When Bert and his brother, Ernie, first arrived at their foster home, they were given baths in a tub outside.
Being wet and covered in soap didn't dampen Bert's enthusiasm one bit.
He spent bath time handing out kisses and snuggles.
That's a pretty good introduction to Bert.
Happy, Curious & Ready to Explore
Bert has a big puppy personality.
He's playful, goofy, confident, curious, social, and adventurous. He's energetic now but is expected to settle into more of a medium energy level as he matures.
He's also smart, food motivated, and toy motivated-all useful qualities as his training begins.
Bert hasn't experienced every type of environment yet, but his comfort with new experiences is improving with exposure.
He's still learning that unfamiliar noises and situations aren't necessarily scary, and he'll benefit from a family that gives him time to decompress rather than rushing him.
Still a Baby
Bert is at the beginning of his training journey.
His potty-training introduction has started, but he's not house trained yet.
He's also just beginning crate-training introductions.
Formal obedience training hasn't started, although his foster is already beginning to work on Sit.
Leash walking hasn't been formally introduced yet.
As Bert grows, there are several puppy behaviors his family will need to continue working on:
Jumping when excited
Mouthiness during play
Counter surfing
Barking and vocalizing
Polite greetings instead of trying to greet everyone
Confidence around loud noises
Leash and harness safety
Bert can slip or escape from a leash or harness if he isn't properly secured, so his future family will need to be particularly careful about properly fitted equipment and secure handling.
Dogs, Cats & Kids
Bert loves other dogs and enjoys canine companionship.
He currently has his brother Ernie to share puppy life with, but Bert is looking for a family of his own.
He coexists well with cats and is good with children.

Meet & Greet Availability:
Bert's foster is happy to meet approved adopters within approximately one hour of Winona, MN.
Bert's history before rescue isn't known, but he's currently sharing foster life with his brother, Ernie, and learning all about being part of a family.
He's still got plenty of puppy lessons ahead of him.
But Bert already brings some pretty wonderful things to the table.
He's social. He's smart. He's playful. He loves dogs, lives well with cats, and is good with kids. He's curious about the world and becoming more confident as he experiences it.
And underneath all that puppy energy is an incredibly affectionate little guy who was willing to hand out kisses even while sitting outside covered in bathwater and soap.
Add the shaggy fur and those enormous brown eyes, and Bert is awfully difficult to resist.
