Meet Indy - The Low-Key Lady Who Knows How to Enjoy the Good Life
Indy has reached the stage of life where she knows what she likes.
Short walks. Good food. A little playtime. Sunshine. Naps. Repeat.
She's a calm, gentle older girl who's wonderfully easy to live with. Indy is house trained, crate trained, well behaved, and perfectly content with a quieter daily routine.
She's friendly and social, but she also has an independent streak. Indy doesn't need constant entertainment or attention to be happy.
Give this girl a comfortable place to relax and a sunny spot to stretch out, and she's got life pretty well figured out.
Indy Loves:
-Short walks
-Car rides
-Sniffing and exploring
-Playing with compatible dogs
-Playing with toys
-Napping
-Training sessions
-Treat puzzles and enrichment
-Watching TV with her people
-Sunbathing
-Quiet relaxation
-Mealtime-Indy is definitely food motivated
Indy's Favorite Thing:
The simple life.
Indy doesn't need an action-packed schedule.
Her foster describes daily life with her as mealtime, short walks, and enjoying time lying in the sun.
She's low energy and low maintenance, making her a great companion for someone who appreciates a dog who can simply settle into everyday life.
Independent, Chill & Easy to Live With
Indy is both house trained and crate trained and has excellent house manners.
She knows:
Sit
Stay
Crate
Indy will go into her crate on demand and is easily redirected if she's doing something she shouldn't.
She can occasionally develop a case of selective hearing, but overall she's a well-behaved older girl who already understands how to live in a home.
Her leash manners are good, too.
She Knows How to Read Other Dogs
One of Indy's nice qualities is how well she adapts to different canine personalities.
With dogs who aren't interested in playing, Indy is perfectly happy simply coexisting.
Put her with a playful dog, and she may decide to join the fun.
She doesn't require another dog in order to be happy, but she does very well with canine companions.
Indy can also coexist well with dog-savvy cats.
When the World Gets Too Busy
Indy is immediately friendly with people, but busy or unfamiliar environments can overwhelm her.
When she's nervous or overexcited, her stress tends to show through whining and vocalizing (whining). She can become quite vocal (whining) when she's having difficulty settling herself.
This isn't a dog who needs someone to add more energy to the situation.
Indy does best with a person who can remain calm, provide clear direction, and help her understand that she doesn't need to worry about everything happening around her.
For outings, lower-stimulation environments are generally going to suit Indy better than crowded, chaotic ones.
Children & Indy
Indy has done well with children and has never shown concerning behavior around them.
Because she's an older dog who can experience anxiety and overstimulation, however, she should be supervised around children and needs kids who understand how to respect a dog's boundaries.
A home without young children would be the best match for Indy.

Foster Location:
Alma, WI
Meet & Greet Availability:
Indy's foster is happy to meet approved adopters within approximately one hour of Alma, WI.
Indy came to Tails of Hope-WI as a local owner surrender.
She's an older girl who already has so many of the qualities people hope to find in an adult dog. She's house trained, crate trained, knows commands, has good manners, and does beautifully with other dogs.
Her biggest need isn't more training.
It's someone who understands her.
Indy can become anxious when the world feels unfamiliar or too busy. She needs a person who won't get rattled by her whining or nervous energy and who can calmly show her that everything is under control.
Give her that, and everyday life with Indy is pretty uncomplicated.
A little play.
A good meal.
A short walk.
And then find the best patch of sunshine in the house and let Indy show you how retirement is supposed to be done.
