Koa is one of those puppies who seems to have figured out the companion-dog thing remarkably early.

Whatever you're doing, Koa is pretty happy to do it with you.

Heading outside to work on something? He's ready. Relaxing on the couch watching TV? That works too. Want to play? Absolutely.

He's playful, goofy, affectionate, and curious, but what really stands out about Koa is how mellow and easygoing he is for his age.

His foster describes him simply: he's happy to be by your side.

Koa is doing very well for his age.

He has little to no potty accidents when kept on a consistent routine and schedule.

He's also doing well in his crate with a structured routine.

Formal obedience training hasn't started yet, and his leash skills still need practice, so his future family will have plenty of opportunities to continue building his puppy skills.

Koa can also be mouthy during play, which is a normal puppy behavior that will need continued redirection as he learns appropriate manners.

No major behavioral concerns have been reported.

He's also good with children.

Koa was found as a stray and taken to a shelter before eventually making his way into rescue.

Now he's ready for the part where somebody chooses him for good.

Koa is still young, so there's plenty left to learn. He'll need continued potty routines, crate structure, leash practice, basic training, and all the normal guidance that comes with raising a young dog.

But his foster already sees something pretty special in him.

He's going to be a great companion.

Koa doesn't seem particularly concerned with what the day's agenda looks like. Give him something fun to do and he's game. Tell him it's time to relax and he'll happily hang out beside you.

And every once in a while, he'll fall off the couch or launch his toy across the room just to remind you that underneath all that mellow sweetness, he's still a wonderfully goofy puppy.
