Hi.
My name is #Kylo, I’m around a year old... maybe a little younger, maybe a little older. Listen, I didn’t bring my birth certificate when I was LEFT TIED TO A POLE IN NILES, FOR GOD’S SAKE.
Breed? Your guess is as good as mine. Chocolate Lab? Vizsla? Some sort of handsome reddish-brown creation with eyeballs that look directly into your soul? Yes.

When I first came to The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, I was scared of EVERYTHING. People? Suspicious. Sudden movements? Absolutely not. A leaf blowing by too aggressively? Probably plotting something. I had no idea who I could trust or what was going to happen next.
But these humans kept showing up. They talked to me, gave me time, got a harness on me, and eventually I realized... ohhhh. These people aren’t trying to hurt me. They’re trying to HELP me.
And then somehow I went from terrified pole dog to strutting my stuff at the Mutt Strut with a sweet mom and little girl like I had somewhere important to be.
I actually got adopted pretty quickly too! Plot twist: the resident dog filed a complaint with management and requested my immediate removal. Sooooo... back to the shelter I came.
Here’s what you need to know about me: I may need a minute. Don’t come flying at me expecting us to be best friends in 14 seconds. Let me watch you. Let me figure you out. Let me realize I’m safe.
Because once I do?
I’M IN.

I want to be your buddy. I want to hang out. I want the pets. I want to follow you around and finally get to learn what it feels like to belong somewhere without wondering when everything is going to change again.
I’m young. I’m ridiculously handsome. I’ve already come SO far from that scared dog tied to a pole.

Now I just need somebody willing to give me that little bit of time I need to show you who Kylo really is.
