Larkin - Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Nashville, Tennessee

Larkin is 11 months old, 52 pounds, and probably about as big as he is going to get. He is a Lab mix with some Great Pyrenees in the way back ancestry thrown in for entertainment, and he is spectacularly handsome. Fortunately, he has a personality to support the face.

Happy, social, outgoing, and friendly, Larkin enjoys meeting people and assumes they will enjoy meeting him. He has generally good manners when meeting people, certainly better than my college boyfriend had, although we acknowledge that the bar was practically underground.

Larkin is active without being overbearing. He needs a fenced yard and room to run like a gazelle being pursued by a cheetah for about ten minutes, three times a day. Once he has completed his regularly scheduled wildlife documentary, he is happy to hang out with you. Apartment living is not his calling, but neither is a household where everyone is training for an ultramarathon. Some room to move, regular playtime, and people to love will suit him nicely.

He is playful with other dogs and would enjoy a dog friend who wants to join the festivities. He also wants to play with cats. The cats loathe him. A home with a canine playmate is a much better match than one relying on a cat to provide his entertainment.

Larkin is very intelligent, quick to learn, and eager to please. He is also extremely food motivated. We would like to say his moral compass is unwavering, but he might deliberately trip a nun if he thought she was about to beat him to a steak. Fortunately, this enthusiasm makes him an excellent student when treats are involved.

If you want a beautiful, affectionate young dog who can enjoy an adventure and then settle in for your company, Larkin has a great deal to offer.
