Alexa is an 18-month-old, 65-pound alleged Anatolian shepherd mix. It’s possible, but if there is an Anatolian in this family, nobody has kept in touch. Alexa is a very good girl with lovely manners and absolutely no interest in being the reason we have to have a staff meeting. She is quiet, a little shy and more inclined to observe the proceedings than organize them. If shenanigans are underway, Alexa did not start them and she would appreciate being left out of the investigation.
Her interests include petting, snacks and hanging out with her people. A good romp to shake out the wiggles is generally enough to clear her calendar for an afternoon of pleasant companionship. She does not need you to take up trail running and she would be perfectly happy if you sat down.
Alexa needs a fenced yard, a good dog friend and people who appreciate a dog who isn’t trying to turn every Tuesday into an event. She is good with other dogs and cats. Apartment life is not the right fit, but neither is a household expecting an endurance athlete. Give her room to play, a friendly canine or feline colleague and time to get comfortable, and you have a very lovely companion.
In another life, Alexa would be a library assistant with excellent attendance, a good book waiting at home and some shoegaze playing quietly in the background. She would know where everything belonged and politely decline an invitation to a loud bar. In this life, she is looking for kind people, a soft place to land and a dependable snack supply. There is a lot to be said for a dog whose primary ambition is to enjoy your company and stay out of trouble.
