Trout - Great Pyrenees and Basset Hound Dog for Adoption in Nashville, Tennessee

TROUT

Great Pyrenees, Basset Hound
🇺🇸
Nashville, Tennessee
September 16th
male, large, baby

DESCRIPTION

Trout is a 16-week-old, roughly 45-pound mystery mix who is still growing into himself. As for what exactly he’s growing into... your guess is as good as ours. We’re seeing some Great Pyrenees, maybe some Basset Hound, and probably a little bit of “whatever makes this dog this adorable.”

Whatever he is, Trout is pretty wonderful.

He is sweet, smart, gentle, and absolutely fascinated by every creature he meets. Adults? Loves them. Kids? Loves them. Dogs? LOVES them. Trout is currently living with a Shih Tzu and has decided she is his best friend. He even waits until she falls asleep before quietly sneaking over to lie down next to her.

He is very much working on becoming a Velcro dog and is doing an excellent job. Trout follows his foster around nearly every step of the way. If his person moves, Trout moves. If his person sits down, Trout is probably figuring out how to be nearby.

He's enthusiastic when he plays but surprisingly gentle about it, and he's incredibly polite when taking treats. No snatching or chomping — he carefully takes them from your hand like the gentleman he is.

Trout is also housebroken and has mastered the art of letting you know when he needs to go out. He's not a big talker about it; he simply walks to the door and stands there. Very efficient. Very professional.

Car rides aren't exactly his favorite activity, but we're hoping he eventually realizes they usually lead somewhere fun.

What Trout does love is running. This boy can GALLop, and watching him take off is pretty hilarious. A physically fenced yard would be ideal so he has a safe place to stretch those legs and get his zoomies out.

Most importantly, Trout needs another dog in his forever home. He genuinely loves canine companionship and would be happiest having a doggy sibling to follow, play with, and eventually sneak over to nap beside.

Trout is just a really lovely puppy — affectionate without being overwhelming, playful without being rough, smart without being a know-it-all, and already very interested in making his person his entire world.

We may not know exactly what Trout is, but we do know one thing: he's one heck of a catch.
