Dood (Photos July 18th 2026) - Hound and Boxer Dog for Adoption in Marietta, Ohio

Dood is a handsome 3-year old male mixed breed (perhaps Hound/Boxer mix) who was found on State Route 555 five miles south of Bartlett Ohio. He was brought to the HSOV on July 16th 2026 by a Good Samaritan who picked Dood up and kept him safe from traffic. Dood was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

Dood has a dark brown/brindle coat with a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a white muzzle/white stripe on his forehead, and large floppy ears.

Dood has a gentle, easygoing personality and was the perfect gentleman when HSOV Executive Director Amy Rogers assisted Dood with photos in the lobby of our shelter during a thunderstorm on the afternoon of July 18th.

We loved seeing Dood's downward dog Yoga poses which he performed perfectly (smile).

Dood weighs 57 lbs and walked fairly well on a leash when Amy escorted him from his large floor crate into the lobby.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Dood will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surely someone is frantically searching for this sweet boy.

The boxer is a medium to large sized dog breed known for its muscular build, distinctive square head, and energetic personality. Boxers require consistent training, plenty of exercise, and socialization to thrive. These dogs are esteemed for their athleticism, endurance, and loyalty, making them excellent companions for active individuals and families alike. With a rich history of assisting hunters in tracking and trailing game, hounds possess a strong prey drive and a distinctive bay when on the hunt. Hounds come in various sizes and coat types, each with its unique characteristics, but they all share a remarkable intelligence and a friendly disposition.
