Mr. Waffles (Photos June 23rd 2026) - Terrier Dog for Adoption in Marietta, Ohio

Mr. Waffles is a handsome one-year old male Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on June 10, 2026 and placed in an outside kennel during the overnight- or early morning hours. Unfortunately, there was no information left with Mr. Waffles, so we don't know if he was found as a stray or if it might have been his family who left him there.

Whatever the case, this sweet young boy was very frightened being left in that kennel, and he can't understand why someone would have abandoned him in this way (and we don't understand either Mr. Waffles) (sigh)

Mr. Waffles has a tan-and-white coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with light brown eyes, a white muzzle/white stripe on his forehead, a liver-colored nose, and large semi-erect ears.

Our HSOV kennel techs and staff have been giving Mr. Waffles extra TLC and are in love with him already. He takes his time to warm up to you ... but when he senses that he can trust you, Mr. Waffles is your new best friend. This boy loves attention and snuggling up with you .. He just needs someone to help him with his self-confidence and to relax/enjoy your companionship. So please don't judge Mr. Waffles by his initial behavior or kennel presence and give him time to gain your trust.

Mr. Waffles likes other dogs and would likely do well with another friendly dog as a playmate to help him gain confidence. Mr. Waffles has a playful personality and just needs a little encouragement to let his playful side become apparent.

We had taken preliminary photos of this good-looking boy while he was enjoying some fresh air/cool breeze in an outdoor kennel (and a break from his floor crate) and while some of those pictures were 'ok' ... And we looked forward to taking pictures with a more flattering background/setting.

These updated photos of Mr. Waffles were taken on June 23rd when HSOV Kennel Tech Liz Stingley spent time with him in the green grassy photo area in front of the shelter building .. And Mr. Waffles did himself proud with Liz by his side and being his best cheerleader/confidante (smile). Mr. Waffles posed like a Westminster Show Dog while he viewed other dogs being walked in the distance by volunteers and appeared to be ready/willing to meet them.

Mr. Waffles weighs approximately 50 lbs, and he appears to be housetrained..

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Mr. Waffles was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody has called or came looking for him as of June 25th.
