Nayvar - Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd Dog for Adoption in Nashville, Tennessee

Nayvar is a 1-year-old, 50-pound Great Pyrenees mix, probably with some Aussie in the recipe. He is not going to get substantially bigger, although once regular meals and a few more months of excellent care finish their work on his coat, he may occupy considerably more space in your photographs.

Nayvar came to us from a hoarding case with 22 other dogs. He is very friendly and social, but he is still looking for the instruction manual on being a dog. He wants to play with other dogs, but he just does not quite know how to get from “hello, I like you” to actually playing, which is sadder than Where the Red Fern Grows.

What he needs is a well-adjusted dog friend who can demonstrate the finer points of toys, chase games, and being comfortable in the world. He already likes people and dogs and has minimal interest in cats. The desire to join in is there. He just needs some patient guidance and the chance to practice.

Nayvar is going to be a very handsome boy as his fluffy coat fills in, but there is already plenty to love underneath the work in progress. His ideal home has a fenced yard, kids over 6, and a friendly dog willing to show the new guy around. He is generally housebroken and appreciates the creature comforts like indoor temperature set at 72 and a consistently feeding schedule.

He has spent his first year being one of many. Now he needs to find out what it feels like to be somebody’s.
