Meet Kira!

Kira is a 2-year-old, 20-pound scruffy Terrier/Shih Tzu mix with an adorable little face and a heart ready to belong to someone.

This sweet girl is spayed, friendly with people, and does great with other dogs. She's the perfect little size for couch cuddles, neighborhood strolls, and tagging along on everyday adventures. Kira isn't asking for much, just a family who will love her, spoil her a little, and remind her that she's finally home.

Kira is heartworm positive, but don't let that scare you away! Take Paws Rescue will cover the cost of her heartworm treatment. Her future family just needs to provide the love and support while she gets healthy.

At only 2 years old, Kira has so much life and love ahead of her. She's ready to trade uncertainty for a soft bed, a safe home, and people of her very own.

All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.

***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
