DESCRIPTION

Meet Taysum: It's Time for Him to Come Inside

Taysum is a gorgeous 66-pound Silver Lab who appears to have spent his life as an outdoor hunting dog. And when his usefulness was over, it seems someone simply left him behind.

This sweet boy came to us having never known what it means to live inside a home. No soft bed. No couch. No air conditioning on a hot Louisiana afternoon. Likely no warm house when winter temperatures dropped. He has spent his life outside, and yet somehow, he still absolutely loves people.

When Taysum was found, he was covered in fleas and his poor skin showed the effects of long-term infestation and neglect. He is now safely in our care, receiving medicated baths and consistent flea prevention, and his skin is finally getting the chance to heal.

And the really wonderful news? Taysum is heartworm negative!

Despite everything he's experienced, Taysum is an incredibly social boy. He's good with other dogs, cats, and kiddos, and we would especially love to see him find a home with children to love on him and show him just how wonderful being part of a family can be.

About Taysum:
66-pound Silver Lab
Heartworm negative
Dog friendly
Cat friendly
Loves kids
Friendly and affectionate
Active and ready to play
Recovering from flea-related skin issues
Learning about life as an indoor family dog

Because living inside is completely new to him, Taysum will need a family willing to patiently teach him all the things most dogs learn as puppies, including house manners and the everyday rhythms of home life. He isn't behind. He simply never had anyone give him the opportunity to learn.

Taysum would love an active family with a large, securely fenced yard where he can run, play, and get plenty of exercise. But when playtime is over, we want this boy inside, surrounded by his people, sleeping somewhere warm and soft and finally knowing that he belongs.

For years, Taysum's world may have ended at the edge of a yard or hunting field.

Now we want to give him the whole house, the whole family, and the whole beautiful life he should have had all along.

Taysum is ready for his second chance. Could it be with you?
