Crawford
Seven years ago, Crawfords story changed forever.
He was rescued from the Trumbull County Pound, came to The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, and found what every shelter dog dreams of—a family of his very own. For six wonderful years, he knew the comfort of a home, a routine, and someone to love.
Now, through no fault of his own, Crawford is back where his journey began.
His owner can no longer care for him, and at an age when he should be spending his days napping on a couch and soaking up love, he finds himself back in a kennel.
Crawford has faced more challenges than most dogs ever should. While in our care years ago, he underwent a major surgery. As a result, he has lifelong medical needs and takes medication daily. He sometimes struggles when its time to go potty and has been trained to use pee pads because occasionally he simply cant make it outside in time.
We know what youre thinking. We know these details make him one of the harder dogs to place.
He also prefers to be the only pet in the home.
And thats exactly why were telling his story.
Because dogs like Crawford are often overlooked while everyone searches for the young, carefree, easy dog with no baggage.
But Crawford isnt his medical condition.
Hes a sweet senior boy who is understandably confused about why hes back here. On his first day, he barked almost nonstop, desperately trying to make sense of what was happening. It broke our hearts.
A few days later, something changed. He curled up on his little bed, sighed, and quietly watched the world go by. He comes out for his walks, enjoys stretching his legs, and reminds us every day that beneath all the confusion is a really good dog who just wants a place to belong again.
We dont want Crawford spending months waiting.
We dont want him growing old in a shelter.
Were hoping someone sees past the obstacles and sees the dog.
Maybe youre looking for a quiet companion. Maybe youre retired. Maybe your home is peaceful and you have room in your heart for a dog who just needs a second chance at his happily ever after.
And if adoption isnt possible, perhaps youd consider fostering Crawford while we continue searching for his forever family. We have a feeling hed be much happier curled up beside someone than spending another night in a kennel.
Please help us share Crawfords story. His first second chance lasted six beautiful years. Lets help him find another one.
