Meet #Finn

Finn ended up here at the shelter with his doggy friend after we were told their owner was hospitalized. Sadly, we have since learned that one of his owners has passed away… and honestly, it explains so much about the heartbreak we saw in his eyes when he first arrived.
When Finn came in, he was completely shut down.
Tail tucked tightly.
Too scared to be handled.
Too overwhelmed to understand what was happening around him.
And can you blame him?
One day he had a home, familiar voices, a routine, comfort… and the next he found himself in a loud overcrowded shelter surrounded by barking dogs and strangers.
So we’ve been taking things very slow with him.
No pressure.
No forcing affection.
Just patience, kindness, and letting Finn move at his own pace.
Yesterday, we got him out for some fresh air and for the very first time… we saw it.
A tiny little tail wag.
Just the smallest glimmer of hope from a dog who has been carrying so much sadness.
And that moment meant everything to us.
We learned Finn is about 3 years old and lived with two other dogs previously.
He perks up when you squeak a toy at him and he walks so nicely on a leash.
Right now, he spends his days tucked inside a crate in this overwhelming shelter environment, and we know in our hearts this is not where he belongs.
Would we love to see Finn and his friend stay together? Absolutely.
That would be a dream. But we also know how difficult it can be for families to adopt two dogs at once.
More than anything, our priority is getting these dogs safely into loving, quiet homes where they can finally decompress, feel safe again, and begin their new chapter.
We kindly ask that people please refrain from commenting that they “need to stay together.”
We understand the sentiment and we would love that too.
But our biggest concern right now is getting them out of the shelter as quickly as possible and into loving homes.
At this time, we are asking for no children simply because of all the change and trauma he has experienced. We want to set Finn up for success, not failure.
If there is someone out there willing to go slow with him, give him patience, understanding, and kindness… we truly believe Finn will blossom. 🌿
