Lightning (Rain's Kitten) (Photos August 27th 2026) - Tabby and Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Marietta, Ohio

Lightning is a cute male kitten who was surrendered by his owner on June 3rd 2026 along with his mother (Rain) and his four sisters (Foggy, Snow, Thunder, and Windy) because the family did not have the time nor space to take care of them. Lightning and his sisters were tiny 5-week old babies at that time.

Lightning has a beautiful brown shorthaired coat in a marbled tabby pattern, a long ringed tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a brown velvet nose, a splash of white on his muzzle, and long white whiskers.

Momma Rain was a wonderful loving mother to her five babies. Rain raised four of her babies to be happy, socialized kittens. Sadly, kitten Windy (who was the smallest of the siblings) did not survive and passed away on June 18th.

The kittens were separated from Rain in early August after they were fully weaned, and they have been enjoying a double-wide cage where they engage in silly kitten games and snuggle up for long afternoon naps... And momma Rain is also enjoying some much-needed 'rest and relaxation' time in an adjacent cage.

Lightning was given first vaccines on August 5th 2026. He weighed 2.5 lbs that day. Lightning has also been given Pyrantel and Panacur dewormer.

These photos of Lightning were taken on August 27th when HSOV Shelter Manager Tracy Lynn assisted him with his 'big boy' pictures. Lightning was a pleasure to photograph while he scampered around our 'studio' and showed off his distinctive coat .. And then slowed down to gaze at the camera lens and truly melted our hearts with his facial expressions.

Lightning will be neutered in the near future (tentatively on September 14th 2026) and will soon be ready to find a fabulous home.
