Meet Spud, a 2-year-old terrier with the cutest smile you've ever seen and a heart that never gave up, even when life got a little rough.

Before coming into our care, Spud was surviving on the streets of the Gulfport area. No cozy bed, no guaranteed meals, no one to call his own but somehow, through it all, he stayed sweet, gentle, and full of hope, just waiting for his happily-ever-after moment to arrive.

And honestly? He's ready now.

Spud has a funny, lovable personality that sneaks up on you in the best way. One minute he's giving you that goofy grin, the next you're realizing you're completely smitten. He's the kind of dog who makes you laugh without even trying.

He walks on a leash, though he may need a little polishing in that department since formal training wasn't really part of his street survival story. But he's eager, attentive, and ready to learn what home life is all about.

Spud enjoys the company of older children and gets very excited meeting other dogs. He prefers doggy companions that can match his energy and they will get along just fine.

He is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and current on heartworm prevention. Before heading off into his next chapter, he just needs to be neutered, and then he'll be fully ready to ride off into the sunset with his forever family!

Spud's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!
