Meet Pecan

Pecan is the kind of dog who keeps you guessing — in the best way. In his kennel, he’s calm, composed, and almost a little reserved. You’d never guess that once he’s out and about, he turns into a full-on personality.

Get him outside and the switch flips: Pecan becomes a goofy, happy, “life of the party” kind of guy. He’s playful, social, and absolutely loves being involved in whatever is going on. If there’s attention to be had, he’s not just nearby — he’s in it, making you laugh while doing it.

He’s friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company, but he’s just as happy making people his main focus. Pecan has a natural charm and is incredibly photogenic — the kind of dog who somehow always looks like he knows exactly where the camera is.

At a little over a year old, he’s past the puppy chaos but still full of youthful energy and fun. He’s already neutered, heartworm negative, and ready to step into his next chapter.

Pecan is a great mix of calm when you need it and goofy when you don’t expect it — a genuinely fun, social boy who’s ready to be part of someone’s everyday life.

Pecan's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!

A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application.
