It's a dog, it's a cat, NO ITS A MOOSE!
Moose is a 3-year-old Terrier mix with a very beautiful red merle coat that makes him look like a fancy granite countertop. This 62lb boy found himself in our care on March 6th, 2026, as a stray. He was originally adopted from our shelter back in September 2025. When the owner was contacted, they said they had rehomed him due to landlord issues. It is believed the rehomed owner had dumped him at the Woolmarket Elementary School where he was later picked up by Harrison County Animal Control. Moose deserves the world, how could anyone be so cruel to abandon him?! Now he is safe at HSSM waiting for his TRUELY FOREVER HOME! Could that be you? Moose doesn't mind other dogs but does prefer to be an independent boy. If you have another dog (6 months+) at home, we always recommend that you introduce them properly when bringing a new dog into the home. However, he is all about meeting new people. Sometimes he forgets how big he is and may believe he is a lap dog. He is good with older kids but has not yet met any younger than 10 years old. He is great on a leash and is eagerly waiting to meet you!

Moose's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!
