Iris is a 3-year-old Retriever mix with a soft, gentle spirit and a heart that’s slowly learning to trust. She came in very scared and unsure, but with time, patience, and kind interactions, she’s begun to open up and show her true, sweet nature.

She’s a shy and timid girl who bonds deeply once she feels safe. Iris may take a little time to warm up, but when she does, her affectionate side shines through in the most rewarding way. She’s the kind of dog who will quietly become your shadow and form a strong, meaningful connection with her person.

Iris would do best in a calm, patient home with someone who understands that trust takes time. With love and reassurance, she will continue to blossom into a devoted and loyal companion—the kind that makes every small step forward feel incredibly special.

Iris's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!

The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application.
