This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet your new B.F.F. Shayla, a 6-year-old Newfoundland, weighing approx. 95.6 pounds (as of 9/7/26). Surrendered by owners in Tennessee, Shayla loves to live life to the fullest and she hopes you'll join her!

Sweet. Calm. Friendly. Shayla is the perfect package! If you’re looking for a big, fluffy lover, Shayla is your girl. This compact Newfoundland is a big girl with an even bigger heart. She's basically a Care Bear in dog form!

Shayla is easygoing, and very chill when meeting other dogs. She gets along well with them and would be happy as the only dog or sharing her home with canine friends. We haven’t seen her around cats yet, so that’s still an unknown. She would most likely enjoy children, too, seeing as she acts more like a four-year-old: playful, ready to enjoy life with her people and she won't color on your walls!

Shayla would really enjoy a home where she can be included in more activities. Her foster home is fairly low-energy, and we think this beautiful girl would love a family who wants to take her along for walks, adventures, and everyday fun like the carnival or zip lining! Anything goes! She does well in a crate, has some leash training and appears to be house-trained.

The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
