Meet Forrest!
Forrest is a 9-year-old Great Pyrenees who has been through more than his fair share, and it shows. He's a quiet, thoughtful dog who takes his time figuring out the world and the people in it. New things make him nervous, and he's not the kind of dog who's going to walk into a room like he owns it. He's going to hang back, watch, and decide when he feels safe.
He came to us with scars, both physical and otherwise, after being attacked by other dogs and likely living a life where safety wasn't guaranteed. That experience has left him wary, especially around other animals. He has lived with dogs in his foster home and NEEDS another dog friend to show him the ropes around your house. He has also recently developed a love for stuffed toys. The quickest way to his heart is with food. This boy loves his snacks and chew bones. He has found a deep love for his foster mom and is now extending that to all. He has blossomed so much in his foster home and is now ready for his forever.
With people, Forrest is respectful, but he is watchful until he is sure you aren't going to hurt him. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. When he's unsure, he simply removes himself. Once he trusts you, he leans in quietly and lets you see the soft, good dog he's always been underneath it all. He is housebroken, well-mannered, and easy to live with in the day-to-day sense.
That said, Forrest is a flight risk. When he's scared, his instinct is to get out of the situation, and that means he will need a secure, physically fenced yard and an adopter who understands management and patience. This is not optional.
Forrest is not for everyone. He needs a steady, quiet home with someone who doesn't expect instant affection or a social butterfly. What he offers instead is something quieter and more meaningful. Earn his trust, give him time, and you'll have a deeply loyal companion who finally feels safe.
