DESCRIPTION

Meet Triton!

Triton is a mix of amazingness and honestly, we need someone to complete a DNA test because between those ears, those paws, and his size, we have QUESTIONS! Whatever his recipe may be, the result is one seriously adorable puppy with a whole lot of love to give. And just in case his face, ears, and giant puppy paws don't get your attention, Triton is also a talker! He has opinions, thoughts, and apparently no problem sharing them. His little conversations are just one more thing that makes this goofy boy so darn lovable.

Triton is still figuring out that not everything in the world is meant to be chased, investigated, or enthusiastically greeted. He's learning his puppy boundaries with kitties, so dog-savvy cats would be the best match for him. He would absolutely love having a playful canine friend in his forever home, someone to romp with, learn from, and maybe occasionally annoy in the way only a puppy can!

The world is still a pretty big and sometimes scary place for this sweet boy, and when he's unsure, his favorite place is right beside his person. He's the kind of pup who wants to know where you are and what you're doing, preferably while keeping at least one paw within reach. Triton will need continued puppy socialization and confidence-building in all aspects of life, but with patience, encouragement, and a little guidance, we think this handsome boy is going to blossom into an amazing companion.

He's doing well with his housebreaking and is learning all the important puppy stuff. He does require a fenced yard, as Triton takes his border-patrol responsibilities very seriously. Those big paws have places to go and important puppy business to attend to!

If you're looking for a sweet, goofy, big-eared, big-pawed puppy who will follow you around, keep you entertained with his adorable little conversations, and make you smile every day, Triton would love to meet you. He's still learning about the world, but he already knows one very important thing: life is better when you have a person to love.

All known information about an individual dog is provided in its listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters should understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be.

Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for 1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only hold it for one hour per month of age (i.e. a 4-month-old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break). 2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise. 3.) Socialization. The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home. 4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well-adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded ten-fold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy. Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time-consuming and can be expensive. All dogs require supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well-trained, well-socialized dog is more than worth the effort to get them there.
