Tyreese is a 16-week-old, 50+ pound Great Pyrenees/suspected Basset mix with enormous paws, an enormous future and ears that are doing their very best to reach the floor. He is a little shy when he first meets new people or finds himself somewhere unfamiliar, but give him a minute. Once he decides everything is safe, the reserved puppy disappears and out comes the play fiend. Tyreese is sweet, affectionate, goofy and very happy to join whatever fun is happening.

He is good with people, good with dogs and generally good with everything. He is still very much a baby, so expect the usual puppy learning curve, but temperament-wise, he is an absolute delight.

Tyreese is also going to be a very large dog. The ears may suggest something lower to the ground, but the Great Pyrenees genetics have other plans. Anyone adopting him should be ready for a substantial adult dog with a substantial opinion about things from time to time. A securely fenced yard is required, as it is with all of our Pyr kids. And despite the ears, he is not a giant Basset-shaped Golden Retriever. Great Pyrenees were bred to think independently, assess situations and occasionally decide that your suggestion has been received and will be considered.

Tyreese is sweet, funny, playful and ridiculously adorable. Give him a little time to warm up, and then prepare for the ears to start flying.

Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded ten-fold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy. Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time-consuming and can be expensive. All dogs require supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well-socialized dog is more than worth the effort to get them there.
