Billy - Goldendoodle and Great Dane Dog for Adoption in Dysart, Iowa

BILLY IS CURRENTLY FOSTERED NEAR CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA.

Billy is approximately 9 months old and came into rescue after spending his early life living outdoors in Oklahoma. When he first arrived in foster care, many normal parts of everyday life were completely new to him. He was understandably unsure at first, but he has made incredible progress and continues to gain confidence every day.

Billy is an incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate boy who absolutely loves being with his people. He has quickly become his foster mom’s shadow and is happiest following her around the house, lying at her feet while she works, exploring outside, or simply soaking up all the pets and attention he can get. He is goofy, loyal, and a total Velcro dog who just wants to be included.

For a dog who had never lived inside before, Billy has adjusted wonderfully to home life. He had one potty accident his very first night and has had zero accidents since. He walks beautifully on a leash without pulling and is getting really good at “sit.” He is eager to learn and has picked up on his foster family’s routine very quickly.

Billy is crate trained but is still working on becoming completely comfortable being separated from his people. He will settle in his crate but may cry or whine for a bit because he would much rather be wherever his family is. He has even discovered that he enjoys joining in when music is playing with a little howling of his own.

Billy does wonderfully with children and has been especially sweet and gentle with the little ones in his foster home. He also does well with other dogs and cats. He may occasionally try to convince the cats to play with him, but overall he is respectful and mostly leaves them alone.

Billy is still a little unsure of some unfamiliar things, but he continues to make progress every day. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, his confidence will only continue to grow. Underneath that handsome scruffy face is an incredibly loving boy who simply wants to belong to a family of his own.

Billy is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, on monthly preventative, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.

Since most of our animals are found as strays or come to us with limited history, we cannot guarantee breed or age. Breed and age are determined based on our experience and veterinarian guidance.
