Buster - Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Dysart, Iowa

BUSTER IS CURRENTLY FOSTERED NEAR CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA.

Buster is an approximately 1-year-old Yellow Lab who came to us as a local owner surrender and is now looking for a forever home where he can be right in the middle of family life.

Buster is an extremely sweet, people-loving dog who absolutely thrives on companionship. He loves being with his people, enjoys playing with other dogs, has discovered that tennis balls are pretty great, and has learned to really enjoy going for walks. His foster describes him as a typical goofy Lab who is eager to please and happiest when he is included in whatever is going on.

Buster is potty trained and is currently working on crate training. He does very well in a regular wire kennel at night when it is close to his people, but he struggles when he feels separated or left alone. He can also try to jump a fence outside if he cannot see his people, so a secure setup and supervision will be important while he continues building confidence with being apart.

Buster came into foster care without much formal training, but he has already caught on to “sit,” “lay,” and “wait.” He is also working on leash manners and has made good progress, though he can still pull when he gets excited.

Buster does well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. He is also good with children, though because he is still learning how to manage his size and excitement, a home with slightly older kids may be a better fit so he does not accidentally knock little ones over during his enthusiastic zoomies.

Buster would do best with a family that truly wants a companion dog and is willing to keep working with him on independence, manners, and leash skills. In return, you will get a loving, silly, devoted dog who wants nothing more than to be near his people.

Buster will be neutered before adoption and is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, on monthly preventative, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.
