DESCRIPTION
Meet Saint
Saint may have had a rough introduction to rescue, but this little guy is proving that brighter days are ahead.
Saint is a 2-year-old, 14-pound Cairn Terrier mix who came to Take Paws with what appeared to be a chemical burn across his back. He was immediately taken to one of our partner vets for care and then tucked safely into a loving foster home where he could heal.
And heal he has.
Saint's skin has healed beautifully, and underneath those old wounds we've gotten to know the sweetest little guy. He's affectionate, friendly, and doing wonderfully in his foster home. Saint is neutered, heartworm negative, house trained, and gets along well with other dogs.
At just 14 pounds, he's the perfect little sidekick size, with that classic scruffy Terrier charm. After everything he's experienced, Saint seems more than happy to leave the past exactly where it belongs and concentrate on the important things: being loved, making friends, and finding his forever family.
His name couldn't be more fitting. This sweet boy has been an absolute trooper through his recovery, and now it's time for the fun part.
Keep an eye out for Saint at upcoming Take Paws adoption events. He'll be the handsome little scruffy guy ready to charm his way right into someone's heart.

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
ABOUT: CAIRN TERRIER DOG BREED
The Cairn Terrier is a small, sturdy breed known for its lively and intelligent temperament. Originating from Scotland, these dogs are recognized for their shaggy, weather resistant double coat, often found in shades of cream, wheaten, grey, or red. Cairn Terriers are independent yet affectionate, making them excellent companions for active individuals and families. Their playful nature and love for adventure highlight their loyal and spirited personality, making them a beloved breed for both home and show settings.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
