Meet Lilly.
Lilly is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, 47 pounds, and one of those dogs who reminds you why rescue matters in the first place.
She was found wandering the streets of Del Rio, Texas, terrified and completely shut down. At animal control, she was so frightened that she hid her face, avoided eye contact, and panicked on leash. She wasn't aggressive - she was simply scared and didn't know who or what she could trust.
Then someone gave her something every scared dog deserves:
Time.
Lilly went into foster care and slowly began figuring out that people could be kind. She spent months learning that a house could be safe, a yard could be fun, and a human hand could mean a head scratch instead of something to fear.
And somewhere along the way, Lilly blossomed.
Her foster families discovered a very different dog hiding underneath all that worry: a sweet girl who loves other dogs, enjoys affection, comes over for hugs and head scratches, and is perfectly happy curling up on the couch.
In her current foster home, Lily has completely settled into the dog pack and even claimed her very own spot behind her foster mom's desk.
Her official job title: World's Best Coworker.
And yes, she still has a little shyness.
Lilly isn't the dog who is going to burst through the front door on day one and announce, "Hi! We're best friends!"

"I'll be over here quietly observing you. Give me a little while. Then I'll probably come sit next to you."
And when she finally decides you're her person?
Oh, that's when the magic happens.
She loves affection. She loves other dogs. She enjoys being part of a household. And she has a wonderfully gentle, sweet nature that her foster families have worked incredibly hard to uncover.
