Meet Kovu!

Kovu may still be a puppy, but he’s already overcome more than most dogs ever should.

When our volunteers were called to rescue a mama dog and her newborn puppies, they arrived to conditions that were truly heartbreaking. The scene was unsanitary, unsafe, and deeply upsetting. One puppy had already been lost, and another tiny sibling was found stuck in a chain link fence while flies swarmed. It was the kind of rescue that reminds us exactly why this work matters.

These days, Kovu is focused on all the important puppy business: wrestling with his siblings, collecting belly rubs, stealing toys, and figuring out how to wiggle his way onto your lap. He’s a goofy, affectionate little guy with a playful streak and a soft side that comes out the second he gets attention.

Kovu is the kind of puppy who makes a house feel alive. He’ll keep you laughing with his antics, keep you busy with training and puppy energy, and then completely melt your heart when he falls asleep beside you after a long day of adventures. He’s curious, social, and eager to be part of whatever his people are doing.

Like any puppy, Kovu will need time, patience, consistency, and lots of love as he grows. There will be chewed-up toys, muddy paws, and zoomies at inconvenient times—but there will also be years of loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love waiting on the other side of it.

Kovu is young enough to settle in well with other pets and would do fine with sturdy kids who are ready for all the fun that comes with a growing puppy.

Once submitted, we will reach out to approved applicants by phone. We may also suggest other amazing dogs in our care who could be a great fit for your home.

LOCATION & TRANSPORT:

This dog is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. For out of town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states in the Northeast. (The $450 adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing. Our transports run every 2-3 weeks to that location.) We cannot adopt to Rhode Island due to import restrictions.

VETTING:

All of our dogs are cleared by a licensed veterinarian for transport and arrive to their adopters spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines completed and are microchipped. Note: We cannot guarantee breed mix or full grown size. Both are estimated based on any known history and physical observations. We cannot guarantee she will stay under 60lbs.
