Eric is one of the cats saved from our most recent large-scale rescue, and he is wasting absolutely no time embracing the good life.
At just 8 months old, Eric has already survived a truly difficult start. He came from our most recent large-scale rescue, where no animal should ever have had to live the way these cats were living. But Eric has made one thing very clear since coming into care:
He is done with all of that.
Now he is focused on the things that really matter — clean water, easy access to food, a safe place to sleep, and most importantly, all the snuggles he can get his paws on.
Eric is a survivor, but more than that, he is a young cat who is ready to love and be loved. He is soaking up affection like he has been waiting his whole life for it, and in many ways, he probably has. He is sweet, affectionate, and fully committed to making up for lost time.
He has quickly shown that he enjoys people, attention, and the kind of comfort that every cat deserves. Eric is the kind of boy who seems to understand that life has changed for the better, and he is determined to enjoy every single second of it.
He does well with cats, dogs, and respectful children, which means he could fit beautifully into a variety of homes. Whether he is curling up for affection, following you around for company, or simply enjoying the luxury of being safe and cared for, Eric is all in on this new chapter.
After surviving what he did, Eric is not just looking for a home. He is looking for the home — the one where he can finally settle in, be adored, and never again have to wonder whether comfort or kindness is coming.
If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know
I may have come from a really hard situation, but I am very ready to leave that behind and focus on the important stuff now: food, fresh water, soft places to sleep, and all the love I can possibly get. I’m a survivor, but I’m also a snuggler, and I fully intend to make up for lost time. If you’ve got affection to give, I am absolutely ready to cash in.
Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:
All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:
Spayed or neutered
Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations
Microchipped prior to adoption
Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).
Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.
To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org and complete our adoption application.
After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.
For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.
Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
