Beni is a 2-year-old Chihuahua with a huge heart packed into a tiny little body.

He came to us from the shelter and has been settling into foster life beautifully. Beni is the kind of little dog who makes himself right at home once he feels safe. He is sweet, affectionate, and absolutely loves being close to his people. If you are looking for a tiny companion who wants to love hard and be loved right back, Beni may be your guy.

This little man is already doing wonderfully with several important basics. He sleeps in his crate all night like a champ, knows how to use a doggie door, and does well on leash. He also loves treats, which never hurts when it comes to bonding and continuing training.

Beni is not yet 100 percent house trained, but he does use pee pads and is making good progress. He will do best with a family that understands he may still need consistency, patience, and a routine as he continues to learn.

He does well with other dogs and respectful children. Beni would do best in a home with one or two other dogs at most, though he would also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as the only dog. He enjoys canine companionship, but he also seems to appreciate a home where things are not too busy or overwhelming.

Above all else, Beni is a big lover. He is the kind of dog who wants comfort, closeness, and a family to call his own. After his time at the shelter, he is more than ready for a forever home where he can settle in, feel secure, and be spoiled the way he deserves.

I may be little, but I have a whole lot of love to give. I sleep in my crate all night, I know how to use a doggie door, and I’m pretty good on leash, too. I’m still working on being fully potty trained, but I do use pee pads and I’m trying hard. I love treats, I love being close to my people, and I’m happiest when life feels safe and cozy. Spayed or neutered
Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations
Microchipped prior to adoption
Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).
Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.

After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.

For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible.
