Marcus is a handsome large lionhead mix rabbit with a soft personality, excellent snack opinions, and a very strong belief that “free is for me.”
This sweet boy is easy to please and happiest when he has simple things to enjoy — a cardboard box to investigate, a TP roll to toss around, safe sticks to chew, and of course, dandelions. Marcus absolutely loves dandelions and fully supports the idea that the best snacks are the ones growing outside for free.
Marcus is mostly litter trained and has settled nicely into indoor life. He enjoys spending time near his people, especially when they are willing to meet him at his level instead of trying to scoop him up immediately.
Being picked up is not Marcus’s favorite thing in the world, and he will usually try to make a polite little getaway attempt first. But once he is safely picked up, he does very well and becomes extremely docile and calm. He simply prefers humans who understand that rabbits often feel safest when interactions happen on the ground where they can choose to approach on their own terms.
And honestly? Marcus is more than happy to approach if snacks are involved.
He will happily take treats right from your hand and enjoys gentle companionship with people who respect his boundaries and let him build trust at his own pace.
Marcus would thrive in a home that understands rabbit care and is willing to give him the enrichment, patience, and love he deserves. He is a sweet, low-key little guy who does not ask for much beyond some good snacks, cozy spaces, and kind humans.
If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know
I’m not a huge fan of being picked up right away, mostly because I prefer keeping all four feet available for emergency snack-related situations. But if you get down on my level and let me come to you, I’m actually a very sweet guy. I love treats, boxes, chew toys, and especially dandelions. Honestly, if it’s free and edible, I’m interested. I’m pretty easygoing and would love a home where I can relax, explore, and be your adorable little bunny buddy.
Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:
All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:
Spayed or neutered when age and species appropriate
Up to date on age-appropriate veterinary care
Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.
To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org and complete our adoption application.
After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.
For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are appropriately cared for and up to date on veterinary care to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.
Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
