Meet Kash!
Kash has opinions. Lots of them.
He would also like you to know that he did not come to NFSAW looking for a new career in shelter living, and he has filed several formal complaints about his current accommodations.
Kash is a 4-year-old grey tabby with striking green eyes, and he came to us as a stray from Waterbury. Most likely dumped, because apparently someone looked at this handsome boy and thought, "Yeah, somebody else will deal with that." Thankfully, somebody kind did.
Kash showed up on a good person's porch and refused to leave. Honestly? Excellent decision-making on his part. His rescuers would have kept him themselves if they didn't already have cats-because Kash has made it very clear that he prefers his feline roommates to be more of a theoretical concept.
Now, before you decide Kash sounds like a tiny tyrant, let us explain.
He has been domesticated before. He was already neutered when he was found, and his rescuers took care of his veterinary needs before bringing him to us. So we know there is a perfectly respectable house cat hiding somewhere underneath that current "I have lawyers and I'm not afraid to use them" attitude.
Shelter life is NOT bringing out his best side. He hates being confined, has strong opinions about his personal space, and is going to need someone who understands that Kash is not a microwave-you don't just push a button and expect instant results.
Give him some time. Give him patience. Give him space to decompress. Let him decide that you are, in fact, acceptable.
Because underneath all that attitude is a cat who has already proven he knows how to be someone's companion.
He's also reportedly a fantastic mouser, which frankly makes him even more valuable around here. If you live somewhere with mice, Kash would like to discuss a mutually beneficial employment arrangement.
He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, SNAP negative and up to date on his vaccinations.
Kash is looking for a very specific kind of person:
Someone patient. Someone experienced. Someone who doesn't take things personally. Someone who understands that sometimes the best relationships start with a little negotiation.
If you're willing to let Kash come around on Kash Time, you just might get to see this handsome, opinionated boy blossom into the cat we know is in there.
And if you can win him over?
Congratulations. You have officially been chosen by Kash.
