Dixie - Treeing Walker Coonhound and Jack Russell Terrier Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Dixie heads out on a walk like she already has a route planned, and it always includes the long way around. New path, new smells, new people to meet along the way, she is in for all of it.

Dixie is a 7 month old Walker hound and Jack Russell mix, about 15 pounds. She came to us as an owner surrender along with her sister Trixie, who is also looking for a home. The two are adoptable separately, so Dixie can go home on her own.

She is playful and adventurous, the kind of young dog who turns an ordinary afternoon into an outing. A good long sniffy walk is her favorite thing, and she will do well with someone who likes getting outside and does not mind stopping every few feet so she can check the news. Dixie is dog friendly, so a home with another easygoing dog could suit her nicely.

A few honest things before you apply. We cannot tell you how she would do living with kids or cats. She is a young hound mix with puppy energy, so daily walks and play time are part of the deal.
