Moomies - Australian Shepherd and Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Take Moomies out into the yard and she goes, and she keeps going until her tongue is hanging out of the side of her mouth.

She is a four year old australian shepherd and labrador mix, about fifty pounds, cream and tan with dark brindled markings down her sides, a white chest and four white feet. She is spayed and house trained. She came to Petersburg Animal Care and Control as an owner surrender on September 16, 2026.

What that adds up to is a dog with very little left to guess at. She is grown, so her size and her temperament are what they are going to be. She lived in a house and she kept the habits. She is good with other dogs. Somebody taught her before she got here and it stuck, so ask her for a sit and you get one.

Being honest about what we do not know. Moomies has not been around children or cats that we know of, so we cannot tell you how she would do living with either, and we would take those introductions at home slowly. She walks well until something catches her attention and then she pulls, so we are looking for someone who can comfortably hold fifty pounds at the other end of a leash.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
