Ahlee - Dachshund and Terrier Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Ahlee will play for as long as you let him, and then he comes back, sits down right at your feet and looks straight up at you to see what happens next.

He is a dachshund and terrier mix, about a year and a half old and about fifteen pounds, with a brindle coat, a dark muzzle and a long dark tail he carries up when he is moving. He came to Petersburg Animal Care and Control as a stray.

He is good with other dogs. He is playful and he has energy to spare, and when he is done he wants to be close to whoever is around. He is grown, so at fifteen pounds the size you meet is the size you get, and he is small enough to go most places with you.

Being honest about what we do not know. Ahlee has not been around children or cats that we know of, so we cannot tell you how he would do living with either. He has a lot of energy for a small dog, and we are looking for a home that will give him daily walks and playtime to use it. That energy may be a lot for very young children or for anyone who is not steady on their feet.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
