Cinco - Shepherd and Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Cinco rides in the car with his head up next to the driver, mouth open, looking over at you like he wants to know where the two of you are headed.

He is a six year old shepherd mix with a pale cream coat, a white chest and soft ears that fold over at the tips. He is house trained and he walks well on a leash. He came to Petersburg Animal Care and Control as an owner surrender, so he has lived in a home and he knows how one works.

At six, what you meet is the dog you get. His size, his energy and his manners are already settled. He is good with other dogs, so a house that already has one is open to him. And once he knows you, he is a friendly, easy dog to be around.

A few honest things before you apply. Cinco does not make his best first impression at the shelter. He can be protective there, so plan on giving him a few minutes at the meet and greet to warm up and come to you on his own time. We are looking for a home without children for now. He has not been around cats that we know of, so we cannot tell you how he would do living with one.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
