She's Just Getting Started!
There is something about Nova. The longer we know her, the more certain we are that this girl is just special. She’s one year old, about 40 pounds, and a gorgeous Lab/Shepherd mix with soft eyes, a gentle heart, and a happiness that seems to be growing by the day. And right now, we get the privilege of watching her bloom.
Nova came to us from a cruelty case, so when she first arrived, she was understandably a little unsure about the world. Not shut down. Not complicated. She just needed some time to figure out that the people around her were good, the food kept coming, and apparently nobody was going to ruin her afternoon.
Fair enough. So we gave her time, and Nova is taking it from here.
Every day, there’s a little more confidence. A little more curiosity. Her tail wags easier. She comes closer. She gets excited. She plays. More and more of that sweet, happy personality comes spilling out, and this girl has so much more in there. That may be the most rewarding part of loving Nova. We’re not watching her become a different dog. We’re watching her realize she gets to be herself.
And Nova herself? Oh, we LOVE her. She is sweet, affectionate, gentle, happy, and so easy to love. She likes being near her people and has that wonderful Lab/Shepherd quality where she keeps tabs on what you’re doing without feeling the need to file a formal report about it. Going into the kitchen? Nova has noticed. Sitting on the couch? Excellent choice. She was considering that herself. Walking into another room? Interesting. She may need to come see what you’ve got going on in there.
Nova doesn’t need to be the center of attention. She just really likes being part of your life. And there’s a difference. She has this softness about her that makes you want to sit beside her and tell her things she has absolutely no business knowing. She’d probably keep your secrets, too. That woman has discretion.
She also loves other dogs, and we think she could be so happy having a canine friend to share life with. She enjoys their company and can take confidence from having another dog around, but she’s also perfectly capable of soaking up all the love as somebody’s main girl.
And the more comfortable Nova gets, the more Nova we get. More happiness. More affection. More curiosity. More personality. More of this beautiful girl realizing she doesn’t have to hang back and wonder anymore. She gets to participate. She gets to play. She gets to be silly. She gets to love people. She gets to wake up expecting good things.
Someday, Nova is going to be so used to being loved that she won’t remember there was ever another way to live. She’ll have a person whose footsteps she recognizes coming down the hall. A favorite spot on the couch. A morning routine she takes unnecessarily seriously. Maybe a dog friend to wander around with.
Someone who reaches down to scratch her head without even thinking about it because they’ve done it ten thousand times before.
We want her to become so thoroughly woven into somebody’s ordinary life that they can’t remember what the house felt like before she was in it. Because Nova isn’t the loudest dog in the room. She doesn’t need to be. She’s the kind you fall in love with quietly, and then all at once. The girl who starts out sleeping beside your couch and somehow ends up occupying a completely unreasonable amount of your heart.
We’re watching Nova discover how good life can be, and the beautiful thing is she’s just getting started. Her person is still out there. Her favorite couch hasn’t been claimed yet. There are years of walks, naps, car rides, adventures, and perfectly ordinary Tuesdays ahead of her.
Nova has an entire life ahead of her to become somebody’s everything. And whoever gets to watch the rest of this beautiful girl bloom is getting one very, very special dog.

The Truth About Rescue:
Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.
Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.
Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.
