DESCRIPTION

Never Met a Stranger. Has No Plans to Start.

There are friendly dogs, and then there’s Kevin, an 80-pound brindle man who appears to be conducting a grassroots campaign to personally befriend every human being in America. Kevin is about three years old, and he has never met a stranger. Not because he politely warms up after a few minutes. No. Kevin sees a human being and immediately assumes they’ve been sent specifically to see him.

Walk past the yard and Kevin will throw himself onto his back, belly to the heavens, like a Victorian woman overcome with emotion. Sir. Ma’am. Since you’re here, I do have an opening for a belly rub. He does not know you. He does not need to know you. Kevin’s screening process is alarmingly loose.

And everybody falls for it. Literally everybody who meets this dog goes on and on about Kevin. Friends love Kevin. Visitors love Kevin. Complete strangers love Kevin. Even the guys who come to do the yard end up taking belly-rub breaks. At this point, Kevin has somehow turned landscaping into a meet-and-greet. Nobody is getting much work done, but morale is excellent.

That’s the thing about Kevin. He makes everybody feel like they’re his favorite person. You can have known him for three years or three minutes—Kevin’s greeting you like you just came home from war. Tail going, whole body wiggling, belly already headed toward the ground. It’s an unreasonable amount of enthusiasm for somebody who has contributed absolutely nothing to his life, but Kevin doesn’t keep score.

His enthusiasm extends well beyond humans. Kevin loves other dogs, he’s great with kids, and he’s perfectly happy joining a playgroup and making the rounds. He’s basically the guy who goes to the grocery store for milk and comes home forty-five minutes later because he ran into six people he knows.

Kevin also loves water with the enthusiasm of a man who recently discovered he owns lakefront property. Pool? Absolutely. Lake? Get in the truck. Suspicious puddle beside the driveway? We don’t need to ruin everything with questions. Throw his ball into the water and suddenly this otherwise unemployed gentleman has found his calling. He’ll swim, retrieve it, bring it back and wait for another throw like somebody finally put him on payroll.

For all his goofy enthusiasm, Kevin has a wonderful balance to him. He can play, swim, explore and romp around with other dogs, but at the end of the day, what Kevin really wants is his person. He’s looking for a best friend. Someone whose life he gets to participate in. Someone to go places with, come home with, lie beside, make laugh and occasionally inconvenience by rolling directly into their walking path because the belly-rub department has reopened.

Kevin is housebroken and crate-trained, smart, eager to please and generally a very good boy. He does prefer to eat separately from other dogs, which seems fair. Some people need a little peace with their dinner. Kevin requires a private dining experience, and frankly, after spending the entire day networking, the man deserves a break.

Kevin has no shortage of people who love him. What he still doesn’t have is someone to call his own. He’s the kind of dog people remember. The dog your friends ask if they can keep. The dog your neighbors start coming over to visit. The dog the yard guy spends a little too long saying goodbye to while you casually make sure Kevin is still on the correct side of the truck door.

And somewhere out there is a person who has absolutely no idea that one of the best dogs they’ll ever know is waiting for them. A dog who will think their arrival home is the biggest event of the day. Who will swim with them, play with them, make them laugh, and somehow make an ordinary Tuesday feel like there was something worth celebrating.

When that person finally finds him, we’d love to tell you Kevin will recognize the significance of the moment. That the music will swell. That he’ll run across the yard in slow motion and somehow just know.

He’ll probably roll over and ask for a belly rub. And honestly, that feels more like Kevin anyway.

Because one day, the person standing there rubbing that belly is going to realize this is their dog. The one their friends adore. The one their family tells stories about. The one they’ll still be talking about years from now.

Everybody who meets Kevin loves him. One lucky person is just going to get to love him for the rest of his life.

The Truth About Rescue:

Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.

Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.

Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.
