Happiness Has Questionable Brakes
Bunny is 16 pounds of wispy fluff, speckled sweetness, and pure uncut joy. This gorgeous fluffy Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix was born in May 2026, and as far as anyone can tell, this girl has never had a bad day in her life. Bunny wakes up every morning like she just found out school was canceled. People? YES. Dogs? YES. Outside? Incredible. A stuffy toy? Best news she’s heard all week. Somebody turned on the hose? THIS IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH.
She got the name Bunny when she was just a tiny puppy because she looked like a little bunny, but she has really committed to the brand. She hops. She bounces. She gallops. She gets excited and takes off running before all four legs have received the meeting agenda. At 16 pounds, Bunny has plenty of horsepower.
What she does not always have is a fully developed plan for what happens when she reaches the end of the yard. Acceleration: excellent. Brakes: pending. Turning radius: between Bunny and God. She’s expected to grow to around 50–60 pounds, so those systems should probably come online eventually.
And then there is Bunny’s relationship with water. Calling her a “water dog” doesn’t quite cover it. Bunny believes water is an activity. She loves it so much that she has both a water bowl and a separate water bucket for playing. Bunny appreciates the gesture but sees no reason to honor the zoning regulations. Both front feet go directly into the water, and then she starts digging until she has successfully relocated most of it to the surrounding area. Nobody knows what she’s looking for down there. Maybe the rest of the lake. Watching her play in the water is about the sweetest thing on Earth, and it’s easy to imagine this girl living her best life with a kiddie pool in the backyard or joining her family for days at the lake.
Dogs are another one of Bunny’s great loves. She is extremely social and playful with other pups and has this wonderfully innocent play style, like every game is the greatest idea anybody has ever had. She would LOVE a pup sibling to romp around the yard with—someone willing to chase, bounce, wrestle, and occasionally move out of the way when Bunny comes galloping through with a minor steering situation.
And if Bunny loves dogs, she adores people. Outside, she’ll happily follow her people around waiting for her next opportunity to collect some affection. Somebody else getting loved on right now? No problem. Quick trip to the tree. Be right back. Off she gallops, makes her little loop, and comes bouncing right back to see if perhaps the situation has changed. Her turn now? That is Bunny. There is no sulking. No keeping score. Apparently every minor inconvenience can be resolved by running to a tree and returning with renewed optimism.
When Bunny does get her turn, she is all affection. She loves being loved on and gives that love right back. She’s playful enough to keep everyone laughing, sweet enough to make you want to kiss that fuzzy little forehead every time she comes bouncing over, and happy just being included in whatever her people are doing. This girl is a happy camper. She seems to move through life assuming something fun is probably about to happen—and most of the time, she’s right.
Bunny also loves her stuffy toys and is VERY food motivated, which should make training this smart little herding-breed girl a whole lot of fun. She already thinks participating in anything is exciting. Introduce snacks into the equation and you’ve basically offered her a full scholarship.
And have you SEEN her? The wispy fluff. The speckled little face. Those floppy ears. That tiny tongue. Bunny has the face of a puppy who could be standing with both front feet in an empty water bowl, surrounded by three gallons of evidence, and somehow convince you the bowl did it.
Bunny is the kind of dog who makes ordinary days more fun just by being Bunny. Give her some grass to gallop through, a stuffy to carry around, a pup sibling to romp with, people who adore her, and access to literally any amount of water, and she’ll handle the rest. There will be bouncing. There will be kisses. There will be zoomies with insufficient braking distance. There will almost certainly be wet floors.
And every morning, there will be one fluffy little girl waking up absolutely convinced that today is going to be a GREAT day. The beautiful thing about Bunny? She’ll probably convince you, too.
