Hi, my name is Toby... and I’m still waiting for someone to call me theirs.

Hi there,

My name is **Toby**.

I’m a **10-month-old Portuguese Podengo/ Tibetan Spaniel/Terrier mix**, weighting about 13lbs and even though I’m still just a young boy, I already know what it feels like to wonder where you belong.

I don’t remember the first night I slept outside under the stars.

At some point, it just became normal.

Finding a quiet little corner where I could curl up.

Listening to the sounds around me.

Watching people come and go.

And hoping that maybe one day, someone would stop, look at me and say...

**“Hey buddy... you don’t have to sleep out here anymore. Come home with me.”**

I never stopped hoping for that.

And somehow, after everything, **I never stopped loving people either.**

I am neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for adoption. I am living with my foster family in Ridgefield, WA and can travel to Vancouver, BC if there is a potential adopter for me.

I’m a sweet, gentle little boy who just wants to be close to someone.

I don't need a huge house.

I don't need expensive toys.

I don't care what kind of car you drive or how beautiful your backyard is.

I just want **you**.

Let me sit beside you while you work.

Let me follow you from room to room like your little furry shadow.

Take me along when you go on adventures.

Let me curl up next to you when the day is over.

And when I finally close my eyes at night, let me know that this time I’m not sleeping somewhere temporary.

The amazing thing about dogs is that we don't spend much time thinking about what happened yesterday.

We just hope tomorrow will be better.

I don't carry grudges.

I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me.

Hope that someone will look into my eyes and say:

I'm only 10 months old.

I have almost my entire life ahead of me.

Someday my little face will turn gray. My steps will become slower, and maybe I'll need your help getting onto the couch beside you.

When that day comes, I hope I'll look up and see **the same person who chose me when I was just a young boy waiting for a home.**
