DESCRIPTION

Hi. I'm Alvin.

And if you're looking for a perfectly ordinary dog, well... I should probably tell you right away that I'm not that guy.

I'm a character.

I'm quirky. I'm opinionated. I'm spirited. I can be a little bossy.

But underneath all of that is a very loving dog who wants to feel safe with his people, be part of his pack, go on adventures, get told what a good boy he is, and preferably receive a few treats along the way!

And if we're the right match?

I have a feeling I could make you fall completely head over heels for me.

I'm a 6-year-old Jack Russell/Spitz mix, and I weigh about 19 kg (42 lbs).

*I am currently living with my foster family near Vancouver, BC. and would like to stay in the Lower Mainland thank you very much! There's my bossy side peeking through heeheee...
My adoption fee is $700 Canadian

Here is my story:

I love being part of a pack.

I've lived with other dogs and even a cat, and I especially enjoy the company of female dogs. I like to charm them.

What can I say?

I have a way with the ladies.

I enjoy walks and absolutely love adventures in the forest with my humans.

I'm social with most dogs I meet on walks, although sometimes I get so excited about wanting to play that I need a little help remembering my manners.

And yes, I can be a little bossy.

But there's an important part of my story that I hope you'll understand.

I'm sensitive.

Some experiences from my past have made me cautious with certain people and with more dominant dogs. I don't necessarily trust everyone immediately.

But give me patience.

Give me kindness.

Give me a calm, confident person.

And whisper a few sweet words in my direction?

That's when you'll start to see the real me.

Because I love kind words from my humans.

Tell me I'm a good boy, give me a treat, let me know that I'm safe — and I'll start giving you something very special in return:

my trust.

A Few Things I Already Know

I'm fully house-trained. In fact, I'm very good at it.

I know some basic training and I'm continuing to work on my leash skills.

I'm also a dog who genuinely wants to please his people. I just do best when my human teaches me with patience and confidence rather than harsh or growly commands.

My foster family says that sometimes all I need is for someone to "whisper sweet nothings in my ear."

And honestly?

I think they may be onto something.

I don't need someone to be tough with me.

I need someone who can calmly show me the rules while reminding me that I'm loved.

What I Want Now

I've had a few chapters in my life already.

I've known what it's like to be someone's beloved companion.

I've known what it's like to be part of a pack.

I've known the comfort of having people who care about me.

And now I'm looking for the chapter that lasts.

I want a human who will understand that underneath my quirky personality is a very sensitive heart.

Someone calm and confident.

Someone patient.

Someone who will give me time to settle into a new home and neighbourhood.

Someone who will appreciate my goofy side, my cuddly side and, yes, even my occasionally opinionated side.

I would love a home with a yard where I can enjoy some freedom and adventures, although with the right person, I may be able to adjust to apartment living.

I wouldn't be the right dog for children or young teenagers, but I'd love to have another dog around — especially a social, gentle female who might appreciate my charming ways.

Most of all, I want someone who sees me for me.

Not just the bossy bits.

Not just the cautious bits.

Not just the things I still need to learn.

But the whole dog.

The goofy dog.

The cuddly dog.

The treat-loving dog.

The forest-adventure dog.

The loyal little soul who, once he decides you're his person, wants nothing more than to be your best friend.

If you're looking for:

A loyal and loving companion

A goofy dog with a BIG personality

A forest adventure buddy

A dog who loves being part of a pack

A cuddle-loving boy who appreciates kind words

A companion who wants to please his person

A dog who will reward patience with an incredibly strong bond

And a very special character who simply needs the right person to see his heart...

Maybe I'm your boy.

I may not be the easiest dog for just anyone.

But perhaps that's because I'm waiting for someone who isn't looking for just any dog.

I'm waiting for my person.

Someone who will look past my quirks, understand my sensitive heart, and give me the chance to show them just how much love I have to give.

And when I finally know that you're my person?

Well...

you'll have one very loyal, goofy, cuddly, treat-loving bestie by your side.

I think my forever family is out there somewhere.

I just hope they're looking for a character like me.

Yours Truly,

Alvin
