Meet Percy!

Percy is a sweet, affectionate hound who is ready to leave his past behind and discover just how wonderful life as a family dog can be. He absolutely loves people and makes it very clear when he’s happy to see you, with a wagging tail and his whole body wiggling with excitement!

This handsome boy loves attention, scratches, cuddles, and being close to his people. One of his favourite things is carrying a ball around in his mouth, which seems to bring him comfort and help him relax. He has also been doing well with other dogs and has shown a friendly, easygoing nature around people he has met.

Percy is still learning the ropes of home life, including house training and feeling comfortable when separated from his people. He can find confinement in a larger crate stressful, so he will need a patient family who can help him build confidence at his own pace. He is an active, curious hound who loves exploring the world through his nose, so a family familiar with hound breeds and their natural energy and instincts would be a wonderful fit.

Percy will need a very secure yard with a tall, solid wooden fence. He can jump a four-foot chain-link fence, so standard fencing will not be enough to keep this clever boy safe. For now, his foster keeps him in a harness and double-leashed whenever he is outside.

Underneath that adventurous hound exterior is a loving boy who seems genuinely happy to be safe and cared for. Percy just needs a family to show him that he no longer has a job to do other than be a happy dog, enjoy his cuddles, and live the good life he deserves.
