Meet Chiquis!

Four years. That’s how long this beautiful girl has been waiting for someone to choose her.

Chiquis is a 28 kg Lab mix who was rescued when she was just three months old. She has spent nearly her entire life waiting for a family of her own, and heartbreakingly, the reason may be as simple as being a larger, black dog. But anyone who takes the time to look beyond her coat will discover a heart that is even bigger than those wonderful, floppy ears of hers.

Now, Chiquis is getting her chance at a new beginning. She will be arriving into our care from our rescue partners on October 31st, and we are so hopeful that her next chapter will finally lead her to the forever home she has been waiting for.

Chiquis has a calm, gentle personality. She isn't the kind of dog who needs to be the centre of attention or fill every moment with excitement. She prefers a slower pace, quietly keeping an eye on her favourite humans and happily following wherever they go. She is loyal, loving, and simply wants to be near the people she trusts.

She gets along well with other dogs, children, and adults, making her a wonderful candidate for a family looking for a steady, affectionate companion. She is house-trained, walks on a leash, and isn't a chewer or a barker. She has no known separation anxiety and is not destructive in the home. She can be frightened by fireworks and other loud noises, so a family who can offer her comfort and reassurance during those moments would be ideal. She has not yet been cat-tested.

After spending four years waiting, Chiquis deserves to know what it feels like to have a family who chooses her every single day. A soft place to sleep, gentle walks, familiar faces, and someone to love her for the rest of her life.

She doesn't need a perfect family. She just needs someone willing to see the beautiful soul behind the black coat, someone who understands that the best things in life don't always demand attention or arrive with a big, flashy introduction.
