Barak (20260915-06)
DOB: 08/05/2023 Estimated
Age: 3 years
Weight: 31-40 lbs

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Barak was left at the gates of the shelter in a box along with 4 female siblings (including Michelle who is also coming to Canada). They were about 7 months old at the time and all very thin and afraid. They took a while to adjust to life at the shelter and learn how to trust again but are now very well adapted and doing well. They have all been at the shelter for almost 3 years now and are ready for their forever homes.

Barak is sociable with dogs and people; he gets a bit nervous in unfamiliar places but becomes very affectionate once he feels confident. He barks at strangers out of fear but stops as soon as he smells and gets to know them. He tends to seek reassurance from people. Barak can be a bit nervous at first but once he knows you – you are his person for life. He takes every opportunity for affection from people and will sometimes create his own opportunity by coming over and sitting on your feet. He is a sweet, gentle and loving boy and will thrive having a family of his own. He is great around other dogs and shies away from conflict.

Medical Notes: Treated for Ehrlichia, anaplasmosis & dermatitis

Good with women: Yes

House training will be required when he is introduced into a home environment.

Crate trained: No

Energy Level: Medium

Can be handled/touched: Yes, he can be a bit shy at first but he did well for his grooming and vet examination and enjoys affection from people he knows

Barker: Occasionally, when he is nervous of new people

Flight risk: Yes, after a long and stressful travel day from Mexico and being introduced to an entirely new environment, with new people and nothing being familiar he will be quite nervous and may try to run. Extra precautions should be taken to ensure he cannot escape a home or vehicle while he settles in.
