DESCRIPTION

Two field scientists, found together by Waukegan Animal Control, and named for the paleobotanist-and-paleontologist team who spent one very long day fleeing dinosaurs. The names turned out to fit better than anyone planned — right down to the toys.

Ellie is the darker of the two, a beautiful mottled charcoal-and-white with a boldly speckled face, the more grounded, watchful half of the partnership. Alan is the lighter one — pale grey mantle, white head and chest, black wing bars — and in the photos he can be found standing squarely atop the dinosaur, holding the pose with the quiet authority of a man who has seen a raptor up close and lived. Their coloring reads as a matched set even though the patterns differ, which suits them: two halves of one research team.

Ellie and Alan are independent, capable, strong fliers who’d rather be exploring, and they’re happy to let you handle catering and lodging while they get on with their very important pigeon business. They are a self-sufficient pair who’ll enrich a home by being fascinating to watch rather than by sitting on your shoulder. For the right adopter, that’s a feature, not a drawback: they ask little beyond room and respect.

What they do also need is space. A spacious indoor home or safe, predator proof aviary suits them best — somewhere they can stretch those wings, patrol their territory, and run their fieldwork. Ellie and Alan are looking for one home with the space to let two independent scientists keep doing their thing, side by side. Life, as their namesakes would remind you, finds a way — and if you’ve got the room, these two would like to carry on finding it in your aviary or living room!
