When Ramu was found, she was completely grounded, with both wings fractured and one of the breaks badly infected. That is a painful combination, and not one a bird survives on her own. She came into rescue, went on antibiotics, and got the slow, unglamorous care that fracture recovery actually takes. Both wings healed. Her flight didn't come back. Ramu will spend the rest of her life on foot, and she seems to have made her peace with that faster than anyone else did.
Her name comes from Ramuh, the old thunder Esper of the Final Fantasy games: white-bearded, staff in hand, wisdom and lightning in equal measure. Ramu got the storm coloring without the storm. She is solid black from beak to tail, no bars, no checks, no white flash anywhere, which is an unusual color to see on a pigeon and a striking one in person.
Judgment Bolt is not in her repertoire. Napping is. Her foster calls her exceptionally gentle and mellow and reports that her preferred activity, given a full open day and all available options, is sleeping on the couch.
Flightlessness is easy to accommodate once you know the shape of it. Ramu is happiest with her world at floor level: food, water, bath pan, and a soft place to loaf all within walking distance, nothing tall for her to climb and fall from, and a low ramp or step up to whatever couch she claims.
She is looking for an indoor home with someone who wont mind a quiet black shadow settling in beside them for the evening. If you've got a couch and no particular plans for it, Ramu is available!
