Before you meet our Darby Girl, we want you to know- THIS IS AN "OUT OF TOWN PET" - that means she is not at this location but we do have transport here - more about transport below. Our Rescue is Houston based (https://www.facebook.com/TwilightTailsRescue) and all our fosters and Rescue Ranch are in and around Houston.
Darby may be small, but she carries a quiet kind of courage, the kind that blooms once she knows she's safe. This Norfolk x Cairn Terrier mix has that classic terrier spark tucked inside her: bright eyes, soft steps, and a gentle determination that makes her impossible not to adore.
You'd never guess she had a tough start. Darby is learning that the past is behind her and the future is full of good things: warm laps, kind humans, and toys she's just now discovering she loves.
At about 12 pounds and expected to land around 21-23 pounds as an adult, she's the perfect take-anywhere companion. Around four months old and quietly curious, Darby is ready to blossom with her forever family.
A Terrier With a Tender Heart
Darby isn't the type to rush in. She approaches new people with a little hesitation a soft tail wag, a hopeful glance and then, once she realizes you're gentle, she belly crawls over and melts right into you. She warms up quickly, and when she does, her whole personality comes alive.
Here's what makes her special:
Toy explorer - she's learning how fun squeakers and ropes can be
Dog-friendly - plays well, reads cues beautifully, and enjoys canine company
Easygoing sharer no issues with food or toys
Zoomie apprentice, especially when she's feeling confident
Potty-training star - doing great with outdoor habits thanks to yard access
She's affectionate in a soft, sweet way never overwhelming, always thoughtful. Playful without being wild. Gentle in a way that surprises people who expect terriers to be all grit and no vulnerability.
Growing Into Her Best Self
Darby is learning quickly routines, manners, and the simple joy of being cared for. She leans into gentle hands, relaxes into laps, and gives these tiny, relieved sighs when she realizes she's safe. She's discovering that humans can be predictable, kind, and full of love.
What She's Dreaming Of
Darby isn't asking for much. Just:
A family who appreciates her soft, blossoming personality
A cozy place to curl up after playtime
Regular outdoor time to keep up her potty progress
People who will give her the patience and love she needs to fully bloom
She's ready to be someone's loyal little shadow - the dog who follows you from room to room, makes you smile with her gentle sweetness, and curls up beside you at night like she's finally found where she belongs.
If you're looking for a tender, affectionate, smart little companion with a heart that grows bigger every day, Darby is waiting to meet you. She's ready for her forever family and she hopes they're ready to help her shine.

Understanding transport: Once everything is all approved, dogs are scheduled on transport using AJC Rescue & Transport (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083418067425). Transport means dogs are carefully and thoughtfully moved via scheduled air conditioned/heated vans from our doggy ranch in Fulshear, TX to a location near you. Each transport consists of a team of two drivers who can alternate. This is how we communicate in real time. The driver who is not driving, will be updating the group chat. You will be included in this group chat to track your dog through transport. You will also be given exact location and scheduled time of arrival. Our drivers do everything possible to run on-time however, things such as traffic, weather etc. can affect arrival time. You will updated regarding delays or possible early arrival. Keep in mind, dogs on transport stop for bathroom, walk and food breaks. For safety, all dogs are crated during transport.
We use what we think is the best dog transport service in the region and have for years - Andrea and her crew really offer first class transport!
